Howbrook is a tiny village within bike riding distance so having got the day off work, I went for a trundle round the country lanes around there. It was lovely to get away from everything for a couple of hours and just have the birds to keep me company as they fluttered down the hedgerows, enjoying the Spring sunshine, just like me.
I've never managed to get a shot of a Yellowhammer before and today wasn't looking like being any different, I could hear them but they were rather camera shy. That is until I was about make my way back home when a yellow fellow obliged and perched on a tree close by.

I've just found my way over here at last.
What a stunning blog, Paul. Will have a proper good look tonight with a cup of coffee.
I can't stop looking at that pheasant photo! Looks like a hybrid stock male.. Good captures and I look forward to seeing more.

Well done capturing the Yellowhammer. Only seen one once fleetingly. Like all the photos LBJ. It was worth the trip out.
Great photos, Yellowhammer and first Chaffinch photo were my favourite
You have photographed these so beautifully!

Some great birds; great pictures and a Yellowhammer (which I very rarely see, if at all!) all mixed in with some healthy exercise and a day off work. Sounds an recipe excellent to me Paul :D

Such great captures! The colors, the sharpness...
Awesome photos, fun to watch. Keep them coming :)
Thanks for the kind comments:-)
You are getting better and better at this. The images of the Chaffinch and Pheasant are my favorite in this. Excellent series of images.
You've captured some stunning images here, Paul. I especially like the pheasant for its rich contrasting colors. Got to love the springtime!
Hi LBJ. Thanks for your comment on my Ringed Plover. First time I have visited your blog, and very nice pics too. Like the Yellowhammer...I have never seen one myself.
I plan to visit Bempton Cliffs next month, any other at¡rea nearby you recommend? I see you are from Yorkshire.
