New Morning Haunt

I can't believe I've gone past this place every morning for a couple of years and never spotted it! Now I'm cycling to work, I've started stopping off here to see what's about each morning, you could say it's my new local patch. I've not visited an area regularly for years so this find is a real treat.

It's a public footpath but I'm not sure who owns the land which is all meadow and great for wildlife. I've heard plenty of birds this week but until yesterday morning had only managed to get a distant Chaffinch in the viewfinder. But even with the lack of birds to shoot (until I get to know their habits), I can still take in the view and practice with different camera setting, like 3-shot HDR as with the above shots. The second one is a little bit blurred, I should realy use a tripod for multiple exposures.

Yesterday morning I was treated to a view of a hovering Kestrel, I manged a few distant shots before it moved even further away.

It's a great way to start the morning and I'm looking forward to seeing what shows up during the summer months, maybe even a Barn Owl, it looks like the sort of place to find one.

Isn't it great to find a new area for watching wildlife and it looks good to me :D. I've always maintained that we see much more from a bicycle than a car!

Great pictures Paul - especially the kestrel.

Looks like the new patch will keep you out of mischief for quite a while Paul. I must resurrect the bike and try a few different places this Summer.
Nice shots of the Kestrel.
