Potteric Carr

Visited Potter Carr yesterday, arrive near lunchtime so any bird activity was at a premium, also only had the small 200mm lens which is great for that special hide there but only good for little black dots on a lake in all the other hides. We joined the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust while we were there so I think we'll be popping back, possibly later this week.

Debbie got a Canon EOS 1000D camera for her birthday on Sunday and did really well at Potteric despite this being her first time out with it and having a few problems with camera settings. You can see Debbie's images here. I think we've got the settiings sorted now, metering and focus modes were the problem, why do Canon have to call everything by a different name!

Looking through the YWT details we brought back with us, there are a couple of places we'd also like to try and fit in this week, Spurn Point on the East coast and Wyming Brook near Sheffield. I just hope the weather is decent enough to get out there!

Paul.

Great set of photos Paul. I see the Woodpecker is in the 'how many seeds can I get in my beak' competition. :) I could count at least eight.

Super series Paul, particularly the Jay attempting to stare you down!

Just awesome. I'm so fascinated with the differences in the coloring of the birds with the same name between the US and England. Cousins, but so different.
