Last weekend we spent a few hours down at RSPB Old Moor, checking out the brand new photography hide for the first time. This little Wren also dropping to check out the new facilities.
Not too far away was this Great Spotted Woodpecker getting stuck in.
Down at Wath Ings a few Woodpigeon were flying about and a couple came past the hide close enough for some flight shot practice.
Not too far away from the hide were quite a few Teal and Widgeon.
The best sight of the day was thousands of Lapwings and Golder Plover taking to the air, wonder what could have spooked them?
Maybe this Sparrowhawk that came swooping in had something to do with it!

Lovely birds, brilliant photos.
ReplyDeleteLooks a good spot Paul.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot of the backlit Sparrowhawk.
"I got the bird watching bug back in January 2008 and since then have been busy learning how to handle a DSLR camera in the hope that one day I might know what I'm doing!"
ReplyDeleteI think you're there now, Paul! The photos are lovely. :)
A designated photography hide.....drool....drool! Must be heaven!
ReplyDeletePaul, just wanted to pop by to say Hello and say thanks for all the comments and chat we have exchanged over the last five years. You were on my list to visit this morning and you beat me to it :-)
ReplyDeleteI know I haven’t been by your blog in a while but if I was looking for a bird pic for ID (especially water birds) I’d be popping over here :-)
I see you’ve been thin on posts over the summer. I hope it’s a case of your out having fun and nothing is amiss with you or Debbie.
I’m always enchanted by Wren photos. My fav here. Enjoy the brand new Old Moor hide. Looking forward to seeing all the enchanting photos you might get from it :-D
Thanks for the comments guys :-) Nice to see you back Shirl, we're both doing fine, Google+ and being very busy have been my excuses this year, oh and a distinct lack of birds in the garden!
