Bad Light Stopped Play

Well, the sun never did come out today, maybe it was marginally brighter than yesterday but not by much. On the plus side, the garden was very active, it's the fist time I've captured a Bullfinch, Wren or Robin on camera here.

Other vistors today were Blue Tit, Goldfinch, Starling, Blackbird, Magpie, Greenfinch, Dunnock, House Sparrow, Jackdaw and Collared Dove.

The shots below are grainy due to shooting at iso 1600 with the minimum light possible to get anything at all.

RSPB Garden Birdwatch 2009

It's almost that time again, the event that rekindled my interest in birds, the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is just around the corner and I'm hoping to do much better than the three species earlier this year.

Hopefully the weather will be better than last time, two foot of lying snow and some winter sunshine would be nice!

Seasons Greetings

Having two weeks off work I was hoping to get out and about with the camera few times or at least get some shots from the garden. Alas, I've been thwarted by the weather conditions, dull grey skies every time an opportunity came along for few hours by the window.

The weather does look like improving tomorrow, clear blue skies with any luck so I'm hoping to spend the morning capturing visitors to our garden.

It's not all doom and gloom, just this morning after stocking up the bird table, we had a group of Long-Tailed Tits drop in, my favourite bird and a new tick for our garden. I managed a single grainy shot just to prove to myself they were here.

Quick Update

We've been preoccupied with other matters over the last couple of months so we've not been out much with the cameras and I've hardly had chance to catch anything in the garden. Hopefully I'll get chance to nip out with the big lens over Christmas.
